The Best Ways To Complete Your Homework

If you are often tasked with homework writing assignments, there are many ways in which you can be the first in your class to compose the best projects.

The first step is proper planning.

By properly planning for every assignment you receive, you can be sure to give yourself enough time to conduct the necessary reading, writing, and editing before you submit the piece. Remember that just a little bit of planning can make all of the difference in whether or not you succeed. You should start creating the plan for your task as soon as it is assigned to you. That night, go home and write out all of the things that you need to do before you can be finished with the task. List the reading you must accomplish, the writing, the editing, etc… Also list the materials that you will need to acquire before you can complete the assignment. This might include a report cover or books from the library. Having these lists will help you assign proper amounts of time for each task.

The second step is to brainstorm.

Brainstorming is an important component to writing any homework assignment.

**Note** If you have to read a chapter or article and respond to questions that your teacher has provided, be sure to read the questions you have to answer before you read the content. This will give you some idea of what it is you are supposed to look for within the text.

Once you have read over the text that was assigned to you, it is time to brainstorm some responses. Do not go with the first response you think of, if you are asked to think creatively or analyze something. If you are supposed to gather dates or facts from the text, then this obviously does not apply. But if you are asked to evaluate or review something or provide an opinion about the reading, then take time to brainstorm different responses. Make sure that you can back up the response you are going to provide with actual details. Even if your teacher does not ask for sources to be included or referenced, if you can reference a line directly from the text, it will show more comprehensive understanding of the assignment. If you can reference another high end academic work such as a peer reviewed journal or an academic book, this will just add icing to the cake of your assignment.

If you are unsure of what to put, take some time to jot down the thoughts that you have and to use tools like spider diagrams or mind mapping to free up your creativity and better analyze your responses.

**Tip** Just because your teacher gave you a minimum word count does not mean that you should meet just the bare minimum. Take an extra step and go a bit beyond. If you are asked to respond to a prompt in two hundred words or more, do not submit something that has two hundred and one words with the title included. Come up with a title, even if it was not required and do not limit yourself with the word count but rather, with the properly explained responses and coherent arguments.

If you are at all unsure of what is expected of you, or what you are supposed to do for your writing assignment, be sure to ask. Always ask your teacher at the end of class if there was something you did not understand. Do not wait until the last minute or try and power through it without asking.
